- Teacher update: The 5thGrade teachers thank the PTC for the bus to the aquarium field trip. The 3rdgrade teachers thank the PTC in advance for the buses to the upcoming Museum of Science Field Trip. The 2ndgrade teachers thank the PTC for the buses to the Acton Discovery Museum and for funding the Museum of Science visit where they discussed magnetism.
2. Jenn Scheck-Kahn, SEPAC and Eliot Mom
- There will be a general SEPAC presentation that is open to ALL families on February 27that 7pm at Broadmeadow. The topic will be “Friends Matter: Promoting Authentic Social Opportunities”
- On March 1stat 8:45am at Eliot School Mona Maas will be explaining the process for extended services during school vacation.

3. Andrea Cunningham, Eliot PTC Co-President
- Spring Activity Changes: To replace the Eliot v Hillside Basketball game and the Eliot 5K we are going to have an in-school Fun Run for all the Eliot students. This fundraiser will hopefully replace the money raised for both those previous events. In addition to the fun run day, there will also be a character building component.
- Volunteers Needed: We are currently NOT running the much loved Eliot Talent Show this year. Please let Andrea or Cheri know if you are interested in chairing this event so that it can take place this year.
- Cheri is finishing up her 2-year term as PTC Co-President. If you are interested in working with Andrea next year please let us know as we would love to work with you.
4. Karen Bourn, Eliot Principal
- We will have 3 full day kindergarten classes at Eliot next year. Each Kindergarten room will also have one full time teacher assistant.
- There will be 4 2nd grade classrooms next year.
- Class Placement Process. Eliot focuses on creating classrooms with compatible groupings that make balanced classrooms. For the month of March, Mrs. Bourn will be accepting emails (sent to a forthcoming dedicated email address) with information parents would like to share about who they wish or not wish their child to be paired with next year. Please know that these emails will be used in conjunction with teacher observation and advice.
- Staff Changes.
- Mrs. Slotnick will be moving from 3rdgrade to Kindergarten next year.
- Barbara Tennyson will be filling the position vacated by outgoing Technology Teacher, Kathy Martell who is retiring at the end of the year. Ms. Tennyson is currently the technology teacher at Broadmeadow.
- Linda McNielly one of our recess/lunch aides will be retiring this month.
- Trish Flueckiger will be retiring at the end of the school year.
